WHAT MAKES A WINNER?

READ THESE VALUABLE HINTS!

Connie Moore, Forrester, Vice President and past judge of the awards has some hints on what the judges look for in a winning entry:

  • The judges are turned off by PR hype - VERY important. Write from the USER's perspective, not from a Vendor's perspective.
  • Pay attention to the fact these awards are based on three main criteria: Innovation, Implementation, and Impact across the categories of Business, Process and Technology.
  • We're looking for something that pushes the technology in new areas, has created a major change in a positive way for the organization and has clearly demonstrated major benefits.
  • We're looking for something that stands out from the crowd, something exemplary for your particular industry. How have you moved the goalposts for your industry?

Read Connie Moore's introductory chapter in Excellence in Practice.

What are the secrets of success?
The answers lie in the books Excellence in Practice, Innovation and Excellence in Imaging and Workflow Volumes by Layna Fischer, WARIA Chair, featuring the winners and finalists of previous Excellence Awards. The companies whose implementation studies are featured in these books have proven excellence through their creative and successful deployment of advanced business process and workflow concepts. The positive impact to their corporations includes increased revenues, product enhancements, better customer service and overall quality improvements.

By studying these winning submissions, you will get a better understanding of what the judges find appealing, not only in content, but also the way that the information is presented. Many a promising case study has lost significant advantage because of the inappropriate way in which it was submitted. Even though many entries are submitted by vendors on behalf of their customers, please write from the user perspective. Remember, the judges are turned off by advertising hype.
